Rail Passes
Purchase one or more of Rail Australia's rail passes and travel on Great Southern Railway, CountryLink and Queensland Rail services. Rail passes provide an economical and comfortable way to discover all or selected regions of Australia.
All passes are valid for travel in Economy/Red Service seating and need to be pre booked.
Austrail Pass
An Austrail Pass can take you on CountryLink, Queensland Rail and Great Southern Railways services to explore destinations including Perth, Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin as well as popular east coast attractions.
Passes provide unlimited travel over a six month period. During this time you can break your journey to spend time in particular locations and only the days you spend travelling by train will be deducted from your pass.
Austrail Passes are available only to overseas visitors holding valid passports. All prices are economy travel and include Goods and Services Tax.
The Pass is not available for travel on any Queensland Rail city train services.

Backtracker Rail Pass
With a Backtracker Rail Pass you can spend up to six months exploring some of the great places between Melbourne and Sydney and then on to Brisbane - or vice versa. This pass gives you unlimited economy class trips in both directions during the specified time period.
For each pass, you will receive four bonus CityRail passes. First there's a DayTripper ticket so you can travel all day on Sydney trains, buses and ferries. Next is a return bus/train ticket to the famous Bondi Beach. And then there are is a one-way train ticket to Katoomba, heart of the scenic Blue Mountains and back. You can choose between making a day trip or staying in the mountains for longer.
Backtracker passes are available only to overseas visitors holding valid passports. The Backtracker pass must be within the valid dates printed on your pass for you to redeem the bonus CityRail tickets. All prices are for economy travel and include Goods and Services Tax. [map]

Pass Terms & Conditions
All Passes are for travel in Economy Seats / Red Service Daynighter Seats and are valid for 6 months- Passes are only available to international visitors and should be purchased before arrival into Australia.
- Payment for all Passes can be made to Travel Online (a Rail Australia Agent) A voucher will be issued for passes not held and this should be exchanged at a major rail station in the relevant state within Australia.
- Upgrading is permitted (additional surcharges apply)
- A travel day is a period of 24 hours or less, from the scheduled departure time of a service eg. An overnight trip 2100/0900 is recorded as one day.
- Validated or lost passes are non-refundable.
- All rates listed are subject to change without notice.
