Spirit of the Outback has made it easy to travel the 1300 kilometers from Brisbane to Longreach while discovering Queensland's outback with an up close view while sitting in air conditioned comfort. Watch the scenic views go by while sitting in your sleeping berth or individual seat, there are a range of amenities to make sure your journey is comfortable and memorable. This Australian train journey offers a themed restaurant featuring Aussie meals or a selection of take away options for the Club Car, there is also an on board lounge perfect for sipping on a drink while having a chat with new found friends.

This 24 hour rail journey passes through a range of historic towns such Blackwater, Emerald and Barcaldine before arriving at the final destination of Longreach. The town is most famous for the Qantas Founders Museum, Outback Heritage Centre and of course the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame. The Spirit of the Outback is an experience that should not be missed by both Australian and International travellers.

Option 1 - First Class

First Class Sleepers and Seats
First Class offers a choice of single or twin berth sleepers. The Spirit of the Outback provides showers at the end of all sleeping cars with restrooms provided at the end of all sleeping and sitting cars.

First Class Sleeper Single Berth Cabin features a wardrobe, power point 240 volt AC and a washbasin with a vanity mirror. The berth has a reading light, pillow, top and bottom sheet, blanket and towel. Half of the single berths face the direction of travel and the remaining face in reverse.

First Class Sleeper Twin Berth Cabin features two bunk style beds, each bed can be sold individually to persons of the same gender, or as an entire cabin to a couple or small family group. Each berth features a table, two wardrobes, full length mirror, power point 240 volt AC and a washbasin with vanity mirror. The berths have a reading light, pillow, top and bottom sheet, blanket and towel. All First Class twin cabins face the direction of travel.

Option 2 - Economy Class

Economy Class Sleepers and Seats
Each Economy Class Sleeping Berth cabin consists of three bunk style beds. The Spirit of the Outback provides showers at the end of all sleeping cars. Restrooms are provided at the end of all sleeping and sitting cars.

Exconomy Class Sleeping Berth Each can be sold individually to persons of the same gender, or as an entire cabin to a party or family group. Each cabin contains a table, power point 240 volt AC and a washbasin with a vanity mirror. A reading light, pillow, lower and top sheet, blanket and towel are also provided for each berth. All Economy Class sleeping cabins face the direction of travel.

Economy Class Steating carriages are open saloon cars with overhead luggage racks and individual reading lights. The comfortable seats may be reclined to the desired position by pressing a button in the arm rest. A fold down table and foot rest is provided however pillows and blankets are not provided. All Economy Class seats face the direction of travel.

TopDining

Dining Car: The Tuckerbox Restaurant dining car has been carefully designed for the comfort of all passengers and offers a series of very special menus each featuring a selection of fine Queensland dishes.

Lounge Car: The Stockman's Bar offers the ideal place for those passengers in sleeping cars to relax, meet new friends or enjoy a drink from the bar.

Club Car: The Captain Starlight Club Car has a friendly atmosphere and offers continuous service for light refreshments, drinks and confectionery except for some periods of night travel. If desired, passengers can take light refreshments to their seat or cabin. A restricted liquor service is also available in the Club Car.

Drinking Fountains: Drinking fountains provided at the leading end of most cars

Children: Infants (children under 4 years) who sit on an adults lap and do not occupy a seat, travel for free. A maximum of one (1) Infant may share a seat with a person 4 years and over free of charge. Should the infant occupy a seat, the applicable child fare is to be charged. Children aged 12 years and over are permitted to travel unaccompanied on Traveltrain services.
Motor Vehicles: Travel Online does not provide quotes for vehicle transport. Passengers taking a vehicle will need to contact Queensland Rail directly for fares and availability.
Ticketing & Payment: Strict cancellation and amendment fees apply to all bookings.
Luggage: Two items are permitted per passenger (not exceeding 20kg in weight and 180 lineal cm in size), plus one piece of hand luggage - all clearly marked with your name and address (conditions apply). Guests should only take on the train with them what they require for their journey. Valuable items such as passports, medicines, laptop computers, cameras, jewellery and fragile or perishable items must be carried onboard as cabin baggage
